Insulating an existing house
Retrofitting insulation in the ceiling and underfloor doesn’t require building consent. It’s an easy, cost-effective way to give your home a thermal boost, making it warmer, drier, healthier, and more energy-efficient. Even if your home has existing insulation, it may have settled over the years and need replacing.
Ceilings
If your home has adequate roof space, installing insulation in the ceilings is relatively simple and highly recommended. Hot air rises and, without insulation, up to 35% of heat in your home can be lost through the ceiling.
Floors
If you have suspended floors and the space under the house is accessible, we also recommend getting underfloor insulation installed. It helps to retain heat and when combined with a ground vapor barrier will prevent unwanted moisture rising from the ground into your home.
Walls
CosyWall Insulation (CWI) is an external wall cavity insulation system (EWCIS) designed to insulate the walls of older homes. It provides thermal and acoustical insulation to existing wall cavities and is installed without the cost and hassle of removing the internal linings. Installation is done via small holes through the external cladding, or from inside via holes in the internal linings.
