Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant Now Available for More South Island Properties
The Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant continues to help thousands of New Zealand families stay warm and reduce their power bills. We’re seeing more homes across the South Island become eligible for this valuable government funding, which covers 50% to 90% of insulation costs.
At Absolute Energy, we’re proud to be an authorised EECA Warmer Kiwi Homes provider. This means we can help assess your home’s eligibility and guide you through the entire process, from application to installation.
What Does the Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant Cover
The grant provides significant financial support for home insulation improvements. Eligible households can receive between 50% and 90% off ceiling insulation, underfloor insulation, and insulation top-ups. The exact percentage depends on your household income and circumstances.
The programme also covers up to 90% of the cost for efficient heating systems, helping you create a warmer, healthier home environment. However, it’s important to note that wall insulation is not included in the current funding scheme.
Who Qualifies for Insulation Grants
To be eligible for the Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant, you need to meet specific criteria. You must own and live in your home as your primary residence. The property cannot be a bach, holiday home, Airbnb rental, or investment property. Homes owned by businesses are also excluded from the programme.
Your house must have been built before 2008. This requirement recognises that older homes typically have inadequate or no insulation, making them prime candidates for these improvements.
You’ll also need to hold either a Community Services Card or SuperGold Combo card. Alternatively, you might qualify if you live in an area identified as low to middle income. You can ask us to check if you’re eligible through our website.
If you’ve previously received an insulation grant for a different property, you can still apply for funding at your current home.
How Absolute Energy Can Help
As an authorised provider, we handle the entire process for you. Our qualified assessors will visit your property to evaluate your insulation needs and determine your eligibility for the grant.
We make the assessment process straightforward. You can fill out our eligibility form on our website at absoluteenergy.co.nz/warmer-kiwi-homes-eligibility to get started. This initial step helps us understand your situation before we visit your home.
We want you to feel confident about your decision. You’re not committed to proceed with the installation after our assessment. We’ll provide you with clear information about what work is needed, the costs involved, and how much grant funding you’re eligible for.
Serving the South Island
The colder temperatures and higher heating costs in many South Island locations make proper insulation even more important. The Warmer Kiwi Homes Grant helps make these improvements affordable for eligible households.
Absolute Energy has been insulating homes and businesses for over 25 years and have insulated more than 25,000 projects across the top of the South during that time.
