Creating a strong thermal envelope 

A thermal envelope is the barrier between the inside of your home and the outside environment. It includes the ceiling, walls, and floor. When these areas are well insulated, they form a protective layer that helps control indoor temperature. 

If one part of the envelope is weak, heat can still escape. For example, adding ceiling insulation will help, but if walls and floors remain uninsulated, the home may still feel cold.
